Being an older webmaster in the days which submitting your website to Alta Vista was really all that was needed for traffic and maybe a few link exchanges the blogosphere has really been quite over whelming. I have spent some time on technorati and read that there are 184 million blogs worldwide. Something else that was quite impressive was they said that the readership last year worldwide was 346 million readers. So almost a half billion people read blogs last year and I was wondering IF I should start a blog. The blogosphere has really taken the web to a new level pretty much letting anyone with a computer create a web presence. There are some down falls since the ease now of starting a blog is quite simple the competition is ten times more than it ever was when I was starting out. One good thing with the online business world now is people are shopping, searching, and all around spending more time online so that means quite a bit more money to be made.

Now blogging integrated a very unique feature which is the commenting aspect really increasing the interactivity of the web presence in general. This may be “cool” to some, but to us webmasters it is really a way to reach the top of Google and increase our income greatly. Now one of the problems with commenting is the spammers and to combat spam Google along with others have come up with a solution which is to make all comments on blogs no follow. This really put a damper on using the blogosphere to reach the top of Google. With Google and others doing this webmasters went into over drive and found a way to reverse the nofollow by removing it in the template of blogger blogs and installing a plug in into wordpress blogs. If you spend a little time on Google searching for the term “remove nofollow on blogger blog” or “remove nofollow on wordpress blog” you will easily find how to do this. Now with this move to reverse nofollow tools have been created to find these blogs which have the nofollow attribute removed allowing an ease of access to do follow blogs. I highly recommend you spend some time searching out these blogs and taking the time to comment on them which will really help your placement in the SERPs (Search engine results pages). Another reason you should be commenting on blogs within your niche is to meet new people that will be helpful in cross promotion. I have found by commenting many of the bloggers were willing to let me guest post which really helped build my readership.
