You want to know about Click Pay Per Programs, eh? Well, the first thing you’ll want to understand is the correct name for them.

Say it with me now: Pay – Per – Click. Abbreviated “PPC,” this is what myself and many other Internet Marketers consider to be the best strategy to use for first-timers wanting to make money online, ASAP.

So What IS This, uh, “Click Pay Per?”

That’s “Pay Per Click.:P It is a term unique to online advertising programs wherein, as the name suggests, advertisers pay a fixed amount per every click that their advertisement receives.

Figure 1.

Google is one of the largest providers of PPC ads on the Internet today. I’m sure by now everyone’s seen the links on various websites that say “Ads by Goooooogle” — that’s PPC. (Figure 1.)

Don’t worry, I’m going to do more than throw a bunch of terminology at you; to help you grasp it a little better, here’s a typical scenario describing PPC, how it works, and how it’s used:

  1. Walter owns a website that he uses to promote and sell custom bowling balls. He’s not getting very many visitors though, therefore he’s not selling very much. He wants a quick, effective way to bring in additional traffic and boost his sales.
  2. He decides to do some online advertising, so he heads over to the Google Adwords program and signs up. In our scenario, this makes Walter our Advertiser.

    Figure 2.

He can use the Adwords service to create a text advertisement that will be displayed on the Google search engine results pages (SERPs) when someone does a search related to custom bowling balls. (See Figure 2.) He chooses the max amount he wants to pay per click (PPC) — $0.25 to start. So, each time someone clicks on his ad, he pays Google $0.25

  3. Smokey owns a blog (aka web log) about bowling — he’s written lots of articles concerning the rules, techniques, and gear, and gets several hundred visitors daily. Lately, he’s been looking for a way to make a little extra money, and he heard about the Google Adsense program. He signs up for a free account, and easily creates an “Ad Unit” that matches his blog, choosing the colors, dimensions, and even font size.
  4. Once Smokey copies and pastes a block of HTML code into his blog, a small block of 2 to 5 advertisements will appear on it. At this point, Smokey is now a Publisher. His Adsense account tracks the number of times the ad units on hig blog are clicked and accordingly commissions him a portion of the total CPC, or “Cost Per Click.”
  5. Adsense uses the same ads that advertisers like Walter create in the Adwords program to display on publisher’s websites. Smokey’s ad unit will rotate through all the different ads in the Adwords program that are similar to the content of his site. There is a good chance that Walter’s ad for custom bowling balls will appear periodically.
  6. His first month, Smokey earned $30 from his ad unit. As long as he makes over $10, he will receive a check from Google before the end of the following month.
  7. In addition, Walter has seen a huge rise in the number of monthly visitor’s to his website and also a dramatic rise in the number of sales made. The profits from his bowling balls more than cover his advertising expenses.
  8. Yay!

This example illustrates how a typical blogger might use PPC to monetize their blog. Let’s say Smokey adds two more ad units (the Adsense program only allows 3 ad units per page) to his blog and does some promotion techniques to increase his traffic. He now makes between $75 and $100 each month from Adsense, completely on autopilot. What’s to stop him from creating another blog, and making another $100 each month? In fact, there’s nothing to stop him from making fifty more blogs. You do the math. ;) Additionally, Adsense isn’t the only PPC network out there — check out my article Beyond Adsense for a list of some of the popular ones.

There are many resources out there that will teach you how to create what is called a “niche website,” which is a small website (usually based off a blog) which focuses on information about a very specific subject, and only targets visitors looking for that particular subject. (For a more in depth explanation of this, check out article “If You Want to Make Cash Online, This is a Must-Read!”)

You can also learn how to effectively integrate PPC ads into the layout to encourage visitors to click on them, and to streamline the entire process to minimize the time and effort involved. This means you can make more niche websites in less time, which of course equals increased earnings on your part.

Are you beginning to see how this can be a highly lucrative enterprise?

Well, I’ve Seen Something Like “CPP,” What’s That Then?

I’m telling you, there’s no such thing as a “Click Pay Per Program,” I know what I’m talking about!

You’re probably thinking of CPC, which stands for “Cost Per Click.” This simply describes the amount advertisers actually spend per each click their ad receives. The CPC for Adwords can be anywhere from $0.05 to $25.00! In the example above, Walter’s CPC was $0.25
