As we all know and observe from the financial and employment news, the odds of acquiring a job quickly are very slim. This is not to say that it is impossible but that it may take time (weeks or months) before an offer of employment is presented. My thought is why only pound the pavement and/or the internet looking for a job during a few hours a day and then spend the rest of the day worrying. Invest the extra time in researching the opportunities of online or work at home businesses.
Would it not be wonderful that you would cross paths with the perfect opportunity that would provide self employment, security and hopefully personal satisfaction? Most of us acknowledge the fact that we have all worked for companies who dictate when we deserve a raise, when we can have time off and of course when we can work or be part of the “unemployment community” due to the corporate requirements to maintain the bottom line.
Certainly there are many people out there who have never considered self employment based on the common mindset that we need to find a job and earn a living. Without a doubt we need to work in order to earn a living, however the decision determining the level of standard of living should be dictated by ourselves and not others.
Over the last 5-6 years I have earned a very comfortable salary by focusing my entire energy on the success of the projects assigned to me by my employer(s). The success achieved were acknowledged by being provided with an occasional increase, pat on the back and bonus which sadly was taxed heavily and a percentage transferred to a 401K plan that was taking a beating. Today as I communicate with several potential employers, who all acknowledge the desire to have me on their teams (but are reluctant to compensate for the expertise), I realize that I will only be hired if the right project is acquired and that I will need to start travelling extensively for the privilege of helping a company maximize on their bottom line. Of course the length of employment is determined and controlled by the sales effort put forth by the eventual employer.
Therefore, I have decided to invest in myself and while I still need to pay bills at the end of the month, I am currently focused on building a business where I believe the future is bright and that is by learning the online marketing business. Every hour spent outside of employment search, I invest in learning and building a future for myself which I know I can manage on a part time basis should I be hired in the coming months. If unsuccessful in acquiring employment, I will have moved closer to being my own boss and having control of my professional life. Being a hard worker I truly believe that I will succeed at the very least with paying the bills monthly… growth and independence being my ultimate compensation.
