Who else is thinking about starting, or building an online business in 2010? If you are anything like I was when I first got started working online a bunch of years ago, you are probably overwhelmed with all of the options, and opportunities you see advertised online. And learning to separate the fact….from the fiction can OFTEN feel like an exercise in futility, and frustration.
Why? The simple truth is that MOST of the online business building advice you are getting is NOT so hot….and from marketing minds that are NOT so much more evolved than yours. (they just are “pretending” to know a bit more than they do….and the key is to learn to see that early on)
Here is what I’ve learned, over the years….is the MOST important part of building a valuable, and viable long term business that succeeds, sustains and endures. (and you can do the EXACT same thing, starting today)
Attract – You need a strategy to attract your traffic. Free methods like article marketing, social media, SEO….or pay for it via PPC, or banner advertising and the like.
Impress – You’ve got to IMPRESS your visitor….and the EASIEST way to do that is to give something away. Do NOT try to sell them something straight away…..simple give away something of value, ask for their name and contact information to deliver it…..and work on developing real relationships with each person who does.
Convince – You’ve got to be convincing, compelling, and powerfully persuasive. Your sequence is all about connecting…..but convincing as well! People who are genuinely interested in what you’ve got to offer are GOING to spend their money with someone….the key is, if you feel like you can offer value, to convince them to spend it with you..:-)
Convert – Pure and simple….you’ve got to convert a percentage of the people who go through the funnel above, to cash dollars. It’s the ONLY way to ultimately succeed online, and while we all LOVE to help, build relationships and make friends, at the end of the day, if you are running a business….you need a certain percentage of your readers to turn into customers.
Continue! You’ve got to be able to renew, retain and REWARD people who stick around…and offer them bigger, better and higher dollar offers as you progress. If you are selling a front end product and deliver value – selling a back end product that builds off the trust you’ve created is easy. The same thing for services like coaching or consulting. If you deliver value on the front end…..establishing “continuity” with your customers is EASY, and is a critical and crucial piece of the puzzle for anyone who truly wants to enjoy their growing their business to new heights, without constantly scrambling around trying to find new eyeballs for their offers! (remember…it’s FAR easier to sell something new to an EXISTING client or customer….than it is to have to go out and get new ones, all the time)
