There is a small secret on the internet that not too many job seekers are familiar with but should be. It is about one of the most popular websites in the world ,Craigslist, and some sneaky internet marketers that are looking to make money off of your desire for a better job.

Many of you have been on Craigslist in the past and are familiar with the Jobs listing section. It is actually one of their more searched categories and one of the main sources of revenue from paid ads in major cities. Tens of millions of people search this site in various cities every month. So as the old story goes “where there is traffic there is money”. That is certainly the case with these internet marketing thieves .

Basically what happens is that you may be looking in a job category on Craigslist and find a really good job that you think matches up with your qualifications. You decide to apply for the position by sending the listing employer your resume. What then happens is that you get a reply from the so called employer saying that you must take another step to qualify for this job . You must click on a link and fill out an application which usually includes name, address, e-mail, phone, etc. Seems pretty innocent except for the fact that there really isn’t a job and by applying to the form you’ve just put moolah in the pocket of the internet marketer. They usually get paid anywhere from $1.50-$4.00 per survey filled out. Sometimes there won’t be a long form from a third party site but rather a simple box that asks for your e-mail address. Seems harmless enough right? When you see the simple boxes asking for an e-mail address, what they’ve done is used a software tool to crop the application so that you don’t see the other website . What you may not be aware of is that a huge percentage of job offers on Craigslist are not legitimate . It’s hard for Craigslist to monitor this stuff because they appear as real job offers. Many of them are for work at home positions or other lucrative type jobs.

If you are discouraged by this activity, don’t be. There are legitimate websites that do help people find legitimate work from home positions. Some are customer service jobs, others are administrative assistant type jobs, graphic designers, account executives, and many other legitimate at home jobs. There are hundreds of companies that are looking to hire people to work from home . All that you need is a reliable source, some desire to apply for jobs, and the willingness to stick it out until you land the position that you want.
