So you’re an affiliate marketer and you need a great trendy niche to promote. How are you going to find the niche, and how are you going to market it?
1. Research For A Niche FREE In Ebay
You can find the most popular product(s) in the market right now by using ebay, look on pulse.ebay.com category by category. I just did, and the most popular item in the ‘cell phone’ category is the iphone.
However, you can’t just market with the general keyword like ‘cell phone’, because in google there are 93 million competitors in the niche, and over 30 pages of adwords ads, so pay per click (PPC) will cost you the Earth!
So what do you do? You get smart and you search out those little juicy gems called long tail keywords. Example, look at ‘best cell phone’ which has only 469 thousand competitors. This is good low to medium competition ground, and where all your gold is to be found.
If you go for low competition keywords like ‘best 10 cell phones’ with only 7 competitors in google, then you will definately get on the front page, but your hits will be severely limited because you can bet, there are very few searches for this keyword.
In fact, as far as google is concerned, there are not enough monthly searches to count!
So you’re never going to divert any traffic to your product with ‘best 10 cell phones’!
2. Simple 1 Page Articles
When you have found a good niche, find your related affiliate product in clickbank.com, write an article say 400 to 600 words long and you submit it to a directory like goarticles.com, and you do a little SEO to it to get it on the front page in google.
3. Exploit Yahoo Answers For Affiliate Commissions
Just go to yahoo.com and click on the ‘answers’ category on the lefthand navigation bar. As an example, find a question asking which is the best cell phone.
Pick up an affiliate product in clickbank related to the cell phone question, then answer the question including your affiliate link in the resource box.
4. Create Private Label Rights Packages
Find a nice profitable overlooked niche keyword, research the topic and write 5 or six articles on the subject. Create a private label rights (PLR) package, then sell it on.
5. Create A Squidoo Lens And Collect Your Share Of The Profits
Again, find a nice overlooked niche keyword and create a squidoo lens using your affiliate material as provided by for example, the cell phone company site.
Now you just watch the money roll in as your affiliate link in the lens is clicked time and time again.
So what is a good niche keyword?
Generally it should have approximately 5000 worldwide monthly searches, and have 500 thousand competotors in google for the exact keyword, example “best cell phone”. If you search best cell phone in google without the quotation marks, you get a broad search results including synonyms, which are irrelevent.
This is good with keywords for existing products, but an even better niche would be brand new products. You can use the model name of the product as the keyword with little competition in the beginning, and cash in on the new trend before it’s picked up by other marketers.
Write an article about it, or create a squidoo lens, or why not both!
There are many tools on the market that will help you to find the latest trends, search numbers, strength of competition, and affiliate products. In my opinion these tools are indespesible because they make your life easy. As with anything, without the right tool the task can be an uphill struggle!
I hope this article helps you to find and exploit some juicy niche markets and make a ton of money. In case you get stuck, don’t forget to find yourself a keyword research tool.
